Hamburgers (Air Fryer)
Air Fryer Hamburgers are a fast way to get a quick meal on the table. Juicy hamburgers, cheeseburgers, or sliders in the Air Fryer mean less mess and fuss without sacrificing the flavour.
1 lb ground beef (80/20 mix of lean beef to fat)
1 small yellow onion, finely diced or 1 tsp. onion powder
2 cloves garlic, minced or 1 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp. kosher or sea salt
½ tsp. black pepper, freshly ground
To Serve:
4 hamburger buns
cheese slices, if desired
toppings, if desired
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with the garlic, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Just fold in the other ingredients in the ground beef and make sure not to over mix.
Using your hands, quickly shape the hamburger patties and place on a tray. You want to make sure that the meat stays cold, because if you overwork the meat then the temperature of your hands will warm the meat up and that can result in really dense hamburgers. To shape the burgers, it's also a good idea to wet your hands a little as this will prevent the meat from sticking to your hands.
Preheat your air fryer to 395°F (200°C).
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick spray, and place your hamburger patties in the basket and cook to your desired doneness.
The best way to check for the doneness of the hamburger is by inserting a food thermometer in the center of the patty (see temperatures in notes below).
How long you are going to air fry the hamburgers for depends on the thickness of your patties, but start with 12 minutes and keep checking until the hamburgers are cooked to your liking.
When the burgers are done, place cheese over each patty and the cheese will melt. This will result in a really delicious cheeseburger.
Toast the buns in the air fryer on the same temperature, keep checking so that they’re not burnt and just toasted.
Assemble the hamburgers and use your favourite toppings. I personally like mayonnaise, tomato slices, onion slices, and lettuce.
Makes 4 servings.
Cook's Notes: Check the doneness of your hamburgers by inserting a cooking thermometer in the center of each patty:
