Salmon with Lemon and Garlic (Air Fryer)

airfryer-salmonlemongarlicIf you don't feel like turning on your oven in the summer or maybe you're using your oven to roast veggies or potatoes, you can cook your salmon in the air fryer and not have to worry about different temperatures or adjusting cooking time for multiple items in the oven at the same time.

4 (6 oz) salmon filets
2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. black pepper, freshly ground
1 lemon, sliced into thin rounds
1 tsp. lemon juice, freshly squeezed
2 tsp. Italian herbs

In a large bowl, drizzle lemon juice and olive oil over salmon and rub to make sure the salmon filets are evenly coated. Season generously with salt, pepper and Italian herbs.

Arrange salmon filets in air fryer basket, making sure they dont touch too much (don't over crowd the basket, so air can move around salmon easily). Arrange lemon slices on and around salmon.

Set air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and cook for 10 minutes, for a little bit of red in the middle. Cook for 12 minutes, for salmon with no red in the middle. Cook for 14 minutes, for well done or for thicker salmon filets.

Makes 4 servings.

Cook's Notes:

  • Check internal temperature at the thickest part of the salmon. If it reads 135°F or higher, it's okay to take it out and let it rest for five minutes - the temperature should come up to 145°F.
  • If your piece of salmon is thin (less than 1½" thick), you can reduce the cook time and check after 5 minutes.
  • If after 7 minutes of cook time your salmon has still not reached temperature, put it back in the air fryer and check every 1-2 minutes, until it comes to temperature.
  • 145°F is the recommendation for food safety purposes. However, some chefs cook their salmon to medium which is an internal temperature of around 125°F.
