Whiskey Sour

whiskeysourWhiskey sours are the best all-around whiskey cocktails and the whiskey sour recipe is so easy. Of course there are people who like whiskey & coke, then there are people who like whiskey neat or on the rocks. Then there are the rest of us lost in the middle. The whiskey sour is a perfect whiskey cocktail creation of something that isn't really sweet and awful for you like a whiskey & coke, while also not a punch in the mouth like straight whiskey. You also make a whiskey sour recipe with egg white, which makes it nutritious. Whiskey sours are also pretty healthy, as far as cocktails go. They are just whiskey, lime juice and egg white, you can skip the syrup or use raw cane sugar to try and be as healthy as possible.

The oldest historical mention of a whiskey sour was published in the Wisconsin newspaper, Waukesha Plain Dealer, in 1870. In 1962, the Universidad del Cuyo published a story, citing the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio de Iquique, which indicated that Elliott Stubb created the "whisky sour" in Iquique in 1872.

1½ oz) Bourbon whiskey (45 mL)
½ oz) sugar syrup (15 mL)
1 oz) lemon juice, freshly squeezed (30 mL)
1 dash egg white

Garnish:
half orange slice
Maraschino cherry

Add all the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice.

Shake and strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.

Garnish with half an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.

Although the resulting drink would technically be called a Boston Sour, if you decide to add an egg white, shake it the first in the shaker without ice, so it emulsifies, then add the ice and shake it again.
