Bacardi (Cuban)
The Bacardi Cocktail originated in Cuba in 1917 and quickly grew in popularity with the growth of the cocktail culture in the USA after Prohibition, so much so that it became known simply as 'the Bacardi'.
1½ oz Bacardi Carta Blanca rum (45 mL)
2/3 oz fresh lime juice (20 mL)
1/3 oz grenadine (10 mL)
Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Makes 1 cocktail.
Cook's Notes:
- VARIATIONS: Some recipes call for lower amounts of grenadine and lime juice when compared to the IBA recipe, but will also add sugar or sugar syrup to the mix.
- DRINKWARE: You can use either a cocktail or a coupe glass.
- GARNISH: Traditionally, a Bacardi cocktail does not require any garnishes.
