Black Russian

blackrussianThe Black Russian gets its name from the use of the quintessential Russian spirit, vodka, and the darkness the drink has from the addition of coffee liqueur. The mix ratio is two parts vodka to one part coffee liqueur, per IBA specified ingredients. Traditionally, the drink is made by pouring the vodka over ice cubes or cracked ice in an old-fashioned glass, followed by the coffee liqueur.

1½ oz vodka (35 mL)
¾ oz coffee liqueur, such as;Tia Maria or Kahlua (22 mL)

Garnish:
marachino cocktail cherry

Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes. Pour the vodka over the ice, then the coffee liqueur.

Add a cherry on a stick and stir.

Makes 1 cocktail.
