Queen Bee Whiskey
Who doesn't love a good whiskey cocktail made for warm-weather sipping? This one gets an especially summery lift from a thyme honey syrup and crushed ice.
Cocktail:
1½ oz bourbon
¾ oz Amontillado sherry
¾ oz Thyme Honey Syrup
¼ oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1 dash Angostura bitters
Simple syrup (1:1) to taste
Thyme Honey Syrup:
1 cup hot water
1 cup pure honey
5 sprigs thyme
Tools:
shaker, strainer
Glass:
punch or coupe
Garnish:
thyme sprig
Make the Thyme Honey Syrup:
Steep the thyme in hot water for 15 minutes. Stir in the honey. Strain the thyme out of mixture, then store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Assembly:
Combine the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Strain into a glass over crushed ice.
Garnish with thyme sprigs.
