Hot Chocolate (Granny's)
The way hot chocolate was originally made and my granschildren's favourite on a cool winter's night.
2 cups 2% milk
2 cups half and half cream
1 cup chocolate chips
raw cane sugar or pure honey, to taste
1 drop pure vanilla extract
Add 2 cups of milk and 2 cups of half and half cream to a small saucepan. Warm the milk mixture over medium-low heat, then add a cup of good quality chocolate chips or smashed chocolate bits.
Stir it around, making sure it doesn’t boil. Continue until all the chocolate has melted.
If it’s too chocolatey for you, splash in some more milk. If it’s not quite sweet enough, add about 1 tsp. of sugar and even a little vanilla extract if you like.
Makes 4 drinks.
