Hot Dog Rolls (Bisquick)
What fun. Hot dogs are baked in their own buns. This is a favourite for kids of all ages.
1¾ cups Bisquick
⅓ cup milk
1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
3 Tbsp. pickle relish, drained
2 slices processed American cheese, cut into 4 strips
8 hot dogs
additional pickle relish, if desired
Preheat an oven to 425°F (220°C/200°C fan, Gas Mark 7). Grease cookie sheet.
Mix Bisquick, milk and mustard until soft dough forms; beat 30 seconds. Turn dough onto surface dusted with Bisquick; roll in Bisquick to coat. Shape into ball; knead 10 times.
Roll dough into 13” circle; cut into 8 wedges. Place about 1 tsp. pickle relish and 1 cheese strip on each wedge about 1” from rounded edge. Top with hot dog. Roll up, beginning at rounded edge. Place crescents, with tips underneath, on cookie sheet.
Bake about 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with additional pickle relish.
Cook's Notes:
- If you like, serve with mustard, salsa or ketchup.
- To grease the cookie sheet, use a pastry brush or paper towel to spread on the shortening.
