Ham and Cheddar Pie (Bisquick)
Ham, Cheddar and apple make a delicious Bisquick main-dish pie to serve morning, noon or night.
1½ cups ham, chopped
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (4 oz)
4 medium green onions, sliced (¼ cup)
1 small cooking apple, peeled, chopped (½ cup)
½ cup Bisquick
1 cup milk
⅛ tsp. black pepper, freshly ground
2 eggs
Preheat an oven to 400°F (200°C/180°C fan, Gas Mark 6). Grease bottom and side of 9” pie plate with shortening.
Sprinkle ham, cheese, onions and apple in pie plate.
In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour over ham mixture.
Bake uncovered 35-40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Makes 6 servings.
Cook's Notes:
- Make an Impossibly Easy Bacon Pie by using 12 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled, instead of the ham.
- Shredded Swiss or Colby-Monterey Jack cheese can be used instead of the Cheddar cheese.
- Complete this tasty meal with steamed broccoli spears and your favourite Bisquick biscuits.
- Savoury Impossibly Easy Pies can be covered and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking. You may need to bake a bit longer than the recipe directs since you’ll be starting with a cold pie. Watch carefully for doneness.
