Mars Bar Slice

marsbarsliceThis classic mars bar slice really is one of my all-time favourite recipes - all you need is five simple ingredients and in no time you will be enjoying this delicious sweet slice.

5 (1.9 oz) Mars bars (5x53 g)
butter (125 g)
1½ Tbsp. golden syrup
4 cups puffed rice cereal (120 g)
milk chocolate (400 g)

Line a 28x18 cm tin with baking paper. Make sure you leave plenty of paper hanging over the sides to help you remove the mars bar slice once it has set.

Roughly chop four of the mars bars into small pieces and place them into a medium size saucepan. Add the butter and golden syrup and stir over a low heat until both ingredients have melted together.

Place the rice bubbles in a separate bowl, and pour over melted ingredients. Mix together and pour into a slice tray. Use the back of a spoon to spread and press into tray.

Slice extra mars bar into small pieces and set aside.

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place in a double-boiler, stir until melted.

Pour the melted chocolate over the top of your mars bar slice and decorate with pieces of the extra mars bar and place into the fridge for 4 hours to set.

Cut the set mars bar slice into pieces and enjoy.

Makes 24 slices.

Cook's Notes:

  • This slice is best stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • You can use mini Mars Bars, you will need approximately 260 g.
  • Adding the Mars Bar pieces to the top of the slice is optional.
