Sour Cream Frosting
Sour cream frosting adds a delicious tangy note to the classic sweetness of buttercream frosting. This sour cream frosting won't taste like sour cream, but people will notice its wonderful bright flavour when paired with all manner of cakes and cupcakes.
¾ cup butter, softened
¾ cup dairy sour cream
1½ tsp. pure vanilla extract
8 cups confectioners' sugar
buttermilk or milk
In a large mixing bowl combine butter, sour cream, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on medium for 30 seconds. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar. Thin with buttermilk or milk to desired consistency.
Makes 4½ cups.
