Sangaree (Whiskey)
This blended whiskey based drink is made with club soda and tawny port. It is an unusual combination of flavours, but very refreshing.
ice cubes
1 oz soda water
1 oz simple syrup
2 oz Scotch whiskey
1 Tbsp. port
Garnish:
sprinkle nutmeg, freshly grated
In a low-ball glass with ice cubes add the scotch whiskey, soda water and sugar syrup.
Give the mixture a good stir then top with port.
Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve.
Makes 1 cocktail.
Cook's Notes: To make simple syrup, combine 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar (or any amount of equal parts) in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Cool before using. Simple syrup will keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
