Custard (Paraguayan Crema)
Paraguayan crema is a super easy delectable dessert from Paraguay. It is perfect to enjoy with terere their national drink of tea. This custard is creamy made with typical ingredients like eggs, milk and sugar but also has a hint of lemon and topped with either cinnamon or nutmeg. milk (1 L)
4 egg yolks
4 Tbsp. cornstarch
8 Tbsp. sugar
1 lemon or lime, freshly zested
Garnish:
cinnamon or nutmeg, freshly grated
carmelized sugar
Mix all thoroughly in stovetop - suitable dish (like Pyrex) and cook until it begins to thicken. Remove from heat and store in refrigerator until ready to use.
After removing from heat you can decorate with a sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg or drizzle with caramelized sugar.
