Steel Cut Oatmeal (Irish)
Slow cooker oatmeal is an easy overnight recipe. Use your slow cooker and have a warm breakfast ready to eat the morning. This overnight slow cooker oatmeal recipe uses traditional Irish steel cut oats.
½ cup Irish style steel cut oats
2 cups water
½-¾ cup half-and-half cream
1 pinch sea salt
Combine all of the ingredients in a slow cooker proof container. Place the container into the bowl of the slow cooker and fill the slow cooker with water to at least halfway up the sides of the bowl containing the oat mixture. Set the slow cooker to low.
Cover and let cook for 8-9 hours. Stir and remove to serving bowls. There are lots of add in possibilities: cinnamon, treacle, maple syrup, fresh fruit, brown sugar, nuts, flax seed, etc.
