Chili Dogs (Cincinnati, Ohio)
This local favourite is perfect for game day, tailgates and potlucks.
1½ lbs ground beef
1 small yellow onions, chopped
2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
1½ tsp. baking cocoa
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. chili powder
¼ tsp. ground paprika
¼ tsp. garlic powder
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
10 hot dogs
Garnish:
10 hot dog buns, split
cheddar cheese, shredded
1 small yellow onion, chopped
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and stir ground beef, crumbling meat, until no longer pink; drain.
In a 3 qt slow cooker, combine beef with all ingredients except the hot dogs.
Cook, covered, on LOW for about 2 hours; add hot dogs. Continue cooking, covered, on LOW until heated through, about 2 hours longer.
Serve on buns; top with shredded cheese and chopped onions.
