Puff Pastry Spoons with Cheese and Salmon
Puff pastries have always been a delightful treat, but when paired with creamy cheese and the rich taste of salmon, it turns into a special appetizer sure to impress any guest.
2 rolls puff pastry
1 egg yolk
¼ cup milk (60 mL)
½ cup cream cheese (100 g)
12 slices smoked salmon
lettuce leaves
Garnish:
sesame seeds
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C/170°C fan, Gas Mark 5).
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut them into spoon shapes. Brush each pastry spoon with an egg wash made from the egg yolk mixed with milk. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and a hint of nutty flavour.
Mold the Pastry:
Lay each spoon-shaped pastry over an aluminum foil tube, as shown in the reference video (note: video not provided here). This will give the pastry its distinct spoon shape. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Assemble:
Once baked and cooled slightly, serve each pastry spoon with a dollop of cream cheese, a piece of lettuce, and a rolled slice of smoked salmon on top.
