Maple Cream Sauce with Whiskey
This maple cream sauce is naturally sweet from the maple syrup with just enough whiskey to give a boozy flavour. Serve srizzled on bread pudding, pecan pie or cheesecake.
1 cup pure maple syrup
½ cup heavy cream
2 Tbsp. butter
1-2 Tbsp. whiskey
Combine the maple syrup, cream, and butter in a medium saucepan.
Stir to blend and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue boiling, occasionally stirring, for 5 minutes.
This mixture can boil quite high, so be sure to watch it carefully and reduce heat or stir as necessary.
Remove from the heat and stir in whiskey.
Makes 1¼ cups or 8 servings.
