Bass
As the most popular game fish in the United States, bass are specimens that many anglers have taken more time to learn about than other types of fish. Florida habitats are ripe to allow the state's native large-mouth bass populations to grow faster and live longer than their northern counterparts. That's not exactly fair, but it makes bass fishing in Florida something that every angler must try. The name bass covers a range of fishes, but most are placed in three families of the order Perciformes: Serranidae, including approximately 400 species of sea bass and grouper; Moronidae, sometimes considered a subfamily of the Serranidae and containing about 6 species, such as the striped and European basses; and Centrarchidae (sunfishes), including the large and smallmouth basses, prized by fishermen.
Nutritional Value: Three ounces of cooked sea bass (about 85 g) has 105 calories, 20.1 g of protein, 2.2 g of fat, and no carbohydrates, fiber, or sugar. Bass is a good source of B12.
