Grouper
Grouper is a lean, moist fish with a distinctive yet mild flavour, large flakes and a firm texture. The Red Grouper has a slightly sweeter, milder flavour than the Black Grouper and is considered to be the better of the two. Grouper's flavour profile is like a cross between Bass and Halibut.
It’s recommended for men and women to eat 2 servings of this type of fish per month. Children should eat only one as it contains an elevated level of mercury. Also, except red and black grouper from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, they’re overfished.
Like most fish, grouper contains large amounts of protein, minimal amounts of saturated fat and no sugar. Unlike fatty cold-water fish, grouper does not supply large amounts of healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
