Monkfish

Monkfish, also known as sea-devil, is a type of anglerfish that belongs to the goosefish family. There are 7 species of monkfish that can be found in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. Monkfish spends majority of its life on the sandy or muddy sea floor. It can be found on a depth of 3.000 feet. A strange-looking fish that is firm textured and has delicious tasting meat, similar to that of lobster or chicken. The similarity in flavours that makes it taste like lobster is due to the eating habits of the Monkfish which feeds on shellfish such as crabs, lobsters and other crustaceans. Monkfish is also known as "allmouth" due to oversized mouth (compared to the rest of the body).
