Pike

The northern pike, known simply as a pike in Britain, Ireland, most of Canada, and most parts of the United States, is a species of carnivorous fish of the genus Esox. They are typical of brackish and fresh waters of the Northern Hemisphere. The Northern Pike is one of the most valuable commercial freshwater species in the northwest. It is a strong, persistent fighter, attracting many fishermen because of the challenge it presents. However, in some areas it is considered to be a nuisance because it devours other game fish such as trout, bass and perch.
Nutritional Value: Northern pike is an excellent source of protein. Protein is needed to build and repair all parts of the body. Northern pike is rich in several other important nutrients, including selenium, vitamin D, vitamin B-12, and niacin. These nutrients have many different functions and they are all required to keep the body healthy. When sunshine hits your skin, your body can make its own vitamin D but in the winter when the sunshine is limited, it is important to eat foods that provide this vitamin for us, like northern pike.
