Standard Breads
Standard breads in a bread machine rely on a simple, foolproof layering method and the basic white or whole wheat cycle.
Standard Bread Ingredients and Order:
Liquids first: Add warm water (100°F–110°F) and melted butter or oil to the pan.
Dry ingredients next: Add flour (bread flour for a chewy texture or all-purpose for a softer bite), sugar and salt.
Yeast last: Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the bread machine or instant yeast on top, keeping it away from wet salt.
Standard Cycles:
Basic / White Cycle: Takes about 3 hours and handles mixing, kneading, rising and baking for standard sandwich loaves.
Whole Wheat Cycle: Uses longer rise times to accommodate heavier flours.
Dough Cycle: Mixes and rises the dough so you can shape and bake it in a conventional oven.
