Fruit Cakes
What is the difference between a fruitcake and a fruit cake? While it may be confusing, the answer is simple. Fruitcake is a cake made with candied or dried fruit, nuts and spices and optionally soaked in spirits. Whereas a Fruit Cake is any style cake that contains fruit in the filling, frosting or batter, such as a strawberry shortcake. A fruitcake is traditionally made for celebrations such as Christmas and a Fruit Cake is served anytime of year, especially in the summer when fruits are harvested.
